A central directory service that holds the profile data other systems shouldn't have to duplicate. Authentik stays the source of truth for identity, and the directory owns everything else.

One record, reviewed before it takes effect
Every person's record lives in one place: photo, position, Discord ID, student ID, LinkedIn and more, instead of ticketing and inventory each keeping their own half-updated copy. Members can propose an edit through Notion, but it doesn't take effect automatically. It lands as a pending change beside the current value, and an admin has to approve it before anything updates.
One API call, any system
External systems can look someone up by email, name, student ID or Discord ID through a single API, instead of guessing or keeping their own lookup table. Keys are scoped and self-issued from an admin tab, so a new consumer app can get read access without anyone touching the database directly. Whether it's ticketing checking who submitted a request or inventory checking who's borrowing an item, it's the same lookup and the same answer every time.
