Manufacturing
The Manufacturing program bridges the gap from ideas to concepts to scalable systems and products.

What we do
By leveraging FDM 3D printing, CNC machining and PCB fabrication, the team experiences the whole design and production lifecycle, beyond building just a single working prototype.
Manufacturing projects integrate with other programs. GLaDOS, a human-robot interaction system, is the final step in the automated printing service, delivering printed parts to people. The Injection Moulder supports MedTech's Podiatry EduKit by automatically manufacturing consumables for the kits. And the 6-DOF Force Sensing Tool collects the force and torque data used to train collaborative robots to use complex tools the way a human would.
Projects

GLaDOS
An automated 3D print collection service centred on a human-robot interaction window.

6-DOF Force Sensing Tool
A sensor-instrumented screwdriver that captures 6-DOF force and torque data to train a KUKA arm.

KUKA Printer
A 6-axis robot arm that 3D prints complex parts in multiple planes for greater geometry and strength.

Injection Moulder
An automatic injection moulding system for rapid small-scale production using 3D-printed moulds.
